WHAT IS A CO-GROUP?
A Co-Group is a group of disciples who live life together for the purpose of glorifying God through communion with Him, living out gospel-centered community with one another and living out His mission to reconcile sinners to Himself through Christ’s shed blood on the cross. A Co-Group is not an event. It is a lifestyle of disciples making disciples and sharing lives together with Gospel Intentionality.
1. Co-mmunion: We were created to worship and to bring glory to God, and our greatest joy comes from living out this created purpose. We glorify Him through song, gratitude, prayer, service to each other and our neighbor, spending time in His Word and fellowship with others in the body of Christ.
2. Co-mission: God sent His son Jesus into human history to reconcile himself to us, and God has given us the ministry of reconciliation to proclaim the gospel message to all nations so that as many as possible would come to a saving faith through Jesus and give glory to God. (2 Cor. 5:18-19). We are also to follow Jesus’ command to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” (Matt. 28:19-20). We live this out as the Body of Christ together, as we love our communities together.
3. Co-mmunity: We are created in the image of God who in His very nature exists in community as the Triune God. He has created us as relational beings who can best image Him and bring Him glory as a community of Christ followers who preach the gospel through our lives together by loving one another, forgiving one another, taking care of one another and calling each other to lives that glorify God.
